Welcome to Standard Economics, a semester-long course that is required for graduation. This course will cover the basic principles of economics as they apply to individuals, businesses, the United States as a whole, and even the world. Special attention will be given to the free enterprise system, the principles of supply and demand, the interaction between business in the marketplace, the role of the government, banking and Federal Reserve System, and the global economy. Classroom instruction will consist of readings and activities drawn from a variety of sources. While the textbook, Economics: Principles and Practices, will serve as the primary source for instruction, outside resources will be used as well. Attendance in class is essential for success in this course.

The Assignments section provides you with announcements, assignments, etc. You will want to visit this section frequently, since it includes the most current information.

The Course Outline provides a listing of the major topics to be covered in the course, along with appropriate textbook references and homework assignments drawn from the textbook. Major tests are also indicated.

The Chapter Notes section is designed to give you quick access to the main points in each chapter we will cover. These notes do not include all the information you need to know, but they will help you organize your thoughts.

The Chapter Quizzes section provides interactive quizzes that can be used to study for tests, to review understanding of homework assignments, and to review for unit tests and final exams. Not only are correct answers provided, but a rationale is given that explains why the answer is correct.

The Projects section gives you specific information about the projects required this semester. These projects apply economic concepts learned in class to real world events.

The Economic Links section provides you with some valuable online resources about Economics and other related topics.

The Classroom Rules and Procedures are a good starting point. In it you will find some important information you will need to know as a student in my class. This information is handed out on the first day of school as well.
